A bit of a rest and some time off…

January is always a tough month for me. That’s why, for several Januaries in a row, I have moved to warmer climates: not only does it help my health and achy muscles, but it really improves my mental health. I just really like warmth and sunshine! This year, sadly, that is not possible. And this year is tougher than most, for obvious reasons.

I feel like I have a lot to write, but currently very little energy to write it. I have spent the last two weeks racking my brains for subject-matter; I have started many different articles but abandoned them halfway through; and I have spent a lot of time staring at an empty word document on my laptop. None of these have resulted in anything productive, but nor have they been restful either – which is the worst of both worlds.

With all this in mind, I have decided to take a couple of weeks off posting on my blog, to give my mind a rest, and recuperate my energy and creativity a little. I find making decisions like this very difficult, because I put a lot of pressure on myself to keep producing, despite knowing that taking time off, and looking after myself is incredibly important. Somehow, knowing things rationally, and believing them emotionally, are two very different skills.

I am sure many chronically ill people relate when I say that I am a person with a lot of drive, a lot of dreams and a lot of ideas stuck in the body of someone who ideally needs to do nothing… all the time! Like a permanently exhausted pigeon, as the kids say! So, whilst I am taking a few weeks off to rejuvenate, you can be sure that I have some exciting announcements and projects coming up in the next few months. So get excited – because I will be back soon, and with a vengeance. And if you want to keep up to date with my thoughts and my life then make sure to follow my twitter, instagram, facebook, and tik tok.

For now, take care, eat what you want, read your comfort books and watch your comfort movies; we can get through the next couple of months and, when spring comes, it will all feel better.
